Lab retreat @ Itasca Biological Station

To ring in a new semester, Grusz lab members spent a weekend at the Itasca Biological Station. Because it was the last open weekend of the year, we had the entire station to ourselves. Jonathan Schilling, director of the station, was a wonderful host and the staff took excellent care of us.

Itasca provided a perfect laboratory setting and we enjoyed a weekend of chromosome squashing, phylogenetic trees, and ferny films. Saturday evening was capped with a hike to the headwaters of the Mississippi River. Iā€™m looking forward to lots of fun in the lab with this group of students!
